Pros

Benefits are good, it carries a strong name.

Cons

Management incompetent for the most part. No communication, changing expectations, very political.

Advice to Management

Stop treating your people like commodities. Everyone knows you move people around "re-engineer" to make the bottom line. The reality is that Amex has experienced no natural organic growth in years.

    Pros

Autonomy, accountability, financial rewards, benefits, company recognition, bonuses, satellite offices, on sight agents, worldwide opportunities, corporate name recognition.

    Cons

    No travel benefits and stressful.

    Advice to Management

Increase employee incentives through financial renumeration as opposed to punishment for not following guidelines. Use positive reinforcement as opposed to negative. Do not allow agents who leave to retain their seniority if American Express purchases the travel agency they went to at the expense of the American Express agents who are loyal to American Express.
