I have been working at American Express full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Variety of jobs in Technologies if you can get it.

Cons

Amex loves the low cost off-shore model. They gain the experience on Amex platforms, then come and take the jobs. Would you rather higher someone that know the platforms, than someone who does not? I am sure more than 50% of Technologies employees are Indian.

Advice to Management

Higher local people and keep the jobs in the US. Does the culture of 12 - 15 hour days really mean work life balance? Is it just the Indian culture that allows for that and Amex loves to exploit that?

I worked at American Express full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I can't think of one, truly.

    Cons

Does the general public know that American Express just laid-off almost 6,000 employees? I wonder how they kept that out of the media. More lay-offs to come in June.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your folks in technology when they say certain platforms can not be logically performed or maintained @ the cost you want to hold it to. You waste too much money because you are NOT listening to your Lead Architects !!
