    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at American Express full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Used to be a wonderful place to work. Employees were treated fairly, collaboration was rewarded, and a joint sense of accomplishment was obtained at all levels. It is a great place to work if you are a "yes" man, and used to work for an Indian outtasking company.

    Cons

Steady stream of top performers are leaving the company.
Two layoffs in the past two years in technologies has created a streched and stressed environment for those left behind. The work didn't go anywhere, just the employees.
Lack of empowerment in leadership has created non-responsive leaders and high frustration levels.
Performance management process discourages building high performing teams, due to forced "low performer" ratings, despite actual performance.

    Advice to Management

Your employees make a difference to the success of the company. $20+ million dollar exectuve bonuses obtained by continual head count reduction only reinforces your out right disregard for the employee base. When was the last time you sat down with an employee at the director level or below and learned their name and what drove them to achieve high performance in technologies?

I worked at American Express full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great managers and coworkers, always room to learn more, constant changing technology, nice benefits, gives bonuses, fair when it comes to performance reviews.

    Cons

Jobs easily outsourced for less money. Work long hours and no extra pay or time off to benefit from going above and beyond. Won't rehire after being laid off.

    Advice to Management

I worked there for over 20 years with outstanding reviews and my position was outsourced. Seeing there were openings later doing the same job I had done for over 10 years, I applied but was told I didn't qualify for those positions. Don't overlook the talented and dedicated people already in front of you and those who did their jobs exceptionally well and want to come back.
