Pros

The employees are generally open to networking and helping each other out. The company generally treats employees well in showing appreciation for service and recognizing accomplishments. Ability to query executive management during town halls throughout the year.

Cons

Entry level employees (Analysts) don't get bonuses. Also, since it is a very relationship-based organization, there may be issues of office politics more than usual. There is a perception that some employees can be passive aggressive in dealing with coworkers.

Advice to Management

Pay bonuses to Analysts to further give incentive to and encourage that employee level

    Pros

Work/Life Balance is spectacular, great management in general, lots of opportunities to do interesting work

    Cons

Promotions beyond the Director level are incredibly difficult, compensation is not competitive for certain Finance roles, communication is tightening around job movements (e.g. no more moving every 2 years)

    Advice to Management

Improve the reputation of Finance, stop overvaluing FP&A experience over specialized areas

I have been working at American Express full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work life balance. Several organizations to participate with. Tuition assistance. Great benefits. Great company to work for if you like serve customers.

    Cons

Difficult to grow past the Director level. Certain groups tend to link to each other and makes it tough to move into different roles. Too much focus on moving different positions and less time focusing on specialties.
