    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at American Express as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

A good workplace with a good work-life balance and good managers.

    Cons

Its more about who you know than what you can accomplish. A good amount of favoritism comes into play in getting assignments and promotions.

Thus a very inbred decision making environment that overlooks good decision making processes and promotion of less qualified individuals.

Very little empowerment within management. Seems that all decisions have to approved at the highest levels. Much more focus on avoiding mistakes that might "embarass manangement". Mistakes are rarely forgiven or forgotten and successes rarely recognized.

    Advice to Management

Company culture of favoritism appears to inhibit good input and decision making.

    Cons

Glass ceiling bias re: age & women

    Advice to Management

    Offer equal opportunities
