I have been working at American Heart Association full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Nice concept of working for a Non-Profit for a cause. There are some really nice people that come to work for AHA.

Cons

The really nice people that start at AHA tend to leave because AHA is not as it appears.

Management needs to be reviewed. Managers at the American Heart Association are not held accountable for their actions. A manager is always right even if they are wrong. Heads turn when it comes to managers. If an employee makes a mistake and they are not managers they are held to a different set of standards and heads roll.

It's all about how much money you can bring in and who you know not what you know or how you do your job or present yourself.

Advice to Management

Lead by example. Make management at AHA lead by example and hold management up to higher standards. This will help employee morale and help your turnover rate. Make the job more about the cause not the money.

I have been working at American Heart Association full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nonprofit organization with a corporate feel. The AHA has the technology that is needed to get the job done. Hard work is valued and rewarded.

    Cons

Being so large, it is not as agile as one would like at times.

    Advice to Management

Be careful to listen and not dismiss what you deem as irrelevant. Ask, "Who's perspective is most important in this situation?"
