Pros

Some colleagues are great, but others have no respect for you as a person with obligations outside of the office.

Cons

Lack of communication from headquarters & sr management to lower level workers

Advice to Management

Communication of problems or feedback from clients needs to be immediate and constructive. You say there should be no surprises at review, but they seem to come up every time.

I have been working at American Institutes for Research full-time

    Pros

Very smart and engaged coworkers, interesting and challenging work and good support for professional development/learning new skills. Lots of variety in the work too!
Even as a just-above-entry-level employee, I get lots of independence in my work, the opportunity to extend my skills and higher up people genuinely listen to my ideas.
Management is very supportive, helps manage workload and advocates for employees ideas/advancement. Higher ups are great at acknowledging and appreciating hard work.

    Cons

No real complaints so far, any issues I've had (eg technology problems) have been quickly addressed.
