I have been working at American Red Cross part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent source for non-paid volunteer work experience, and great for job references.

    Cons

If you work full time, I would not bother. Also you have to sign up, and wait for a orientation to register with them. Yes, its non-paid.

I worked at American Red Cross part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This was an perfect job to gain experience in social services. The after hours work allowed for very good job flexibility that worked well with school.

    Cons

There was no connection with the daytime staff so it made it impossible to really feel like you were a part of the team or truly working towards the mission.

    Advice to Management

Incorporate the after hours staff better with the day time staff as both positions are critical to the mission.
