I worked at American Society for Quality

    Pros

Nice people to work with. Nice offices. You get the chance to work on projects you might not get the chance to at other organizations.

    Cons

Most people on staff neither understand nor apply the quality principles the society espouses. Senior management doesn't execute well and has an insular view regarding what is a good idea and what is a bad idea. It is a membership-based organization, which means members will have a lot of input on the things you work on. That's not always bad, but some "member leaders" are in it to feed their egos and line their wallets,...

    Advice to Management

Take some of your own training on quality and apply it. Stand up to member leaders who have their own agendas.

I have been working at American Society for Quality full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Nice benefit package for staff

    Cons

Numerous selective cliques spreading mis-information. Hard working, knowledgeable employees are many times pushed away from teams due to being a threat to staff in those groups. Scrum Process being used for operational teams that shouldn’t be used; constant finger pointing, halts productivity and increases staff workload to unmanageable levels which results in burn out. Compensation way below average. No formal training...

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees when receiving the same feedback from staff on certain staff or what isn’t working. The perception is no one is listening, or if you are, not taking action.
