I have been working at American Specialty Health full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great co-workers who support each other, since the supervisors seem to always be unavailable.

Cons

Not very much chance for advancement, and for the amount of money they pay you, you deal with a lot

Advice to Management

You continually raise standards to get rid of the people who are there for a number of years, and hire people who aren't as experienced. Therefore, the customer service quality suffers, and you burn out your employees. How about offering adequate compensation for those who have been there for a number of years?

I worked at American Specialty Health as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of a single good thing that came out of working there except that I got a pay check.

    Cons

They didn't offer enough training for me to handle the phones. They micromanage you. The turnover rate for temps was extremely high. Temps were constantly getting let go and new ones were being trained. I was never promised a job there, yet I could never take an hour off to go to an interview without being let go from that job. The traffic was a nightmare and I had to get there ten minutes before my shift started to turn on my computer.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to care about their employees and customers. Very few of the employees were there longer than three years; most people left for better paying jobs. Management needs to spend more time training temps and setting realistic goals for them. My goal there was sixty calls a day, which could be done but customer service would suffer. Temps had the atitude that they had because they were treated poorly not just because of the pay. Talking to the customers-I got so many calls from them telling me that they were dropping ASH because they take too long to pay claims and their customer service sucks. This is something they need to address or they won't be around much longer.
