Pros

The employees are generally upbeat, helpful and friendly. Fun-oriented team building activities occur regularly. If you want to learn the travel industry, or computer technology, or are a workaholic, you will get ample opportunity for fulfillment here. There are also some travel industry related benefits.

Cons

Performance reviews and professional development take a back seat to output. There is a stated shared-cost supervisor approved education reimbursement program, but your boss may balk at even reimbursing for needed books . The workload is also distinctly seasonal, so you will be much more comfortable if your personal schedule can be adapted to that. Employees come and go much more frequently than anywhere I have worked before.

Advice to Management

You need to expand beyond your knowledge of the travel industry and employ modern organizational management to create career opportunities and a more committed team.

I have been working at AmericanTours full-time

    Pros

Pros?! Maybe if you really need the money to pay bills.

    Cons

A very conservative and hierarchical company structure. If you're looking for a place to thrive, feel appreciated for what you do, and work in a friendly and positive environment, just forget about it here. Turn over is amazingly huge. Apart from some people that have been there for years, most people only stay a couple of months to a year top and quit. When you have that many people quitting, it's not hard to understand there's a problem somewhere. The company culture is so old fashioned it's scary. People come and go. The company is super cheap and never organizes anything. The break room only has one single fridge for the hundreds of employees. There's one creamer and one sugar. Office furniture is locked up in a room so if you ever need a notepad or pen you have to go ask HR to go get it for you. Management is just bad. Period. It's either you fit in and close your mouth or they threaten to fire you. I have met a lot of employees there that have filed complaints against other employees for disrespecting them and undervaluing them at work. Some people are so frustrated with their job they just redirect all this frustration onto other employees. And should you even complain to HR don't expect them to help you in any way. They might even think just like you do, but they wont move a single finger to help out. Even HR makes bad comments about the company. It's that bad. There's probably two positive fake reviews below to increase the company's overall score so it does not look as bad. How sad. My advice stay away. Pay is low. Health insurance is very expensive as the company barely participates in it. And oh I forgot you pay for parking too.

    Advice to Management

Wake up it's 2016! Time to respect your employees and show some work ethics.
