    Pros

Good business model with stable growth and stock price. Nice mixture in today's volatile market conditions.

I have been working at Ameriprise full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Each practice is different, keep in mind that on the “P2” platform our franchise owners simply “lease” the Ameriprise name, technology, compliance and back office support (see cons) which means each office is run independent of the others. My experiences have been positive: fair compensation, reasonable life/work balance of time and stability.

    Cons

Interactions with the corporate office are at times frustrating and others downright aggravating. The reliability and consistency of technology is lacking compared to peers I know at other firms. The company has backed off of their product-centric push (i.e., sell more annuities and insurance), however that remains a looming focus. Luckily the P2 platform allows practitioners the ability to “take it or leave it” with respect to the wishes of the Mothership. Biggest complaint is with frontline advisor services and a sever lack of knowledgeable assistance. Follow through isn't the best and the standard answer is "no" until you move up the chain of command; turn-over seems high in these positions.

    Advice to Management

What were you thinking when you decided to offshore the frontline advisor assistant teams?!? For the dollars saved you’ve greatly cheapened your value proposition to existing and prospect advisors. FYI: These contract employees do not care about proactively solving problems for clients and in a client-centric industry that should be priority number one. Also, the platinum partner program is a great idea, but it should extend to the entire private wealth practice not just the franchisee advisor--- dumb. I’m sure that management gets enough grief about technology from the advisor base, which should be a glaring warning light – you have an issue with technology for the advisor base.
