Pros
Richmond Charter Academy, is a great school. They want their students to succeed. I had some great coworkers and friends within the staff. The benefits were great.
Cons
The admin is not communicative and very disorganized. They ask employees (such as paraprofessionals and even after school staff) to come in and be substitute teachers even if they have not had the proper training. They offer the substitute pay rate yet you have to constantly ask them why it is not incorporated in your regular paycheck like it should be. If admin find a reason to not like you they will not communicate it to you to the best of their ability and then you will most likely not be returning as an employee. There were behavioral issues with many of the students yet when they got out of hand and were sent to the office they were sent back a mere five minutes later with nary a phone call to the parents and the bad behavior would continue. We would be told to handle the issues ourselves and then call an admin to collect the student, yet when we would do that, the admin rarely showed up, depending on who they would send. One admin, would berate me in front of students if there was even a minor mistake made. There were also issues of paychecks bouncing if it was not directly deposited into your account, the manual checks would bounce due to unauthorized signatures. HR is nearly impossible to get ahold of. Would have to wait nearly a week after sending an email for a response.
