I worked at Angie's List full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Incredible commissions, good benefits, informal atmosphere

Cons

Territory assignments are critical to long term success. These are distributed by group management based on personal relationships. Advertised as "no one can pay to be on Angie's List" , a half truth in that the positioning on the list is bought, that is the advertising they sell!

Advice to Management

Try an ethical approach to assigning territories and dealing with your sales people

    Pros

Angie's List promotes a very upbeat positive work environment. They encourage employees to have time off with their families as well as organizing social functions for the staff.

    Cons

As is the case with any new and emerging company, there is always change. I don't have a problem with it, but some of the employees that have been here for a while struggle to embrace it.

    Advice to Management

Stay on the path you are on and continue to invest in your people, teach, develop and grow internally. This will continue to ensure that all of Angie's List values are intact long-term.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    -Quarterly and Annual Recognition Programs
    -Opportunities for Advancement
    -Casual Atmosphere
-Good Communication Between Staff and Management (this includes senior team)

    Cons

Pay for hourly employees is typically pretty good. The compensation is built on performance and good performance pays well. However, managers on salaries are not paid all that well. They are constantly shifting responsibilities of lower and middle management and compensation is never considered. Also, job descriptions basically do not exist. There is not much organizational structure.

    Advice to Management

Consider increasing pay for salaried employees. Make positions more defined and structured, such as creating an org chart and making job descriptions for each position.
