"Lack of common courtesy and appreciation for staff"
Mar 4, 2010 - PT Sales AssociateRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great Discount, 50% off Flexiable schedule to work around other commitments. Upscale store enviroment even at outlet level. Customers tend to love brand, fit and are confident with fits and sizing.
Cons
Schedule is only done one week in advance so it is difficult to make plans without requesting an official day off on the ATLAS system, which has to be done 7 days in advance for management approval. There is rarely any recognition (even verbal) of a job well-done, and a general lack of common courtesy for the staff. I am expected to work longer than my scheduled shift without any prior notification on many occasions. Stock and store set shifts are a nightmare...they last HOURS longer than scheduled, and managers expect you to set the store perfectly without any training...you are very much "thrown into" tasks without any instruction and then critisized when it is not done correctly or when it took too long to do it. A PT associate without any training is expected to "process" 115 units per hour...this is INSANE! And the push to open new credit accounts is no longer considered an extra or add-on sale, it is THE expectation. Sales and customer service/personal selling is secondary to opening credit. Associates are pushed to aggressively sell credit and at times, the recomended verbage is a turn off to customers, pushy and teetering on the edge of morally un-ethical, especially in a time of consumer credit whiplash and crunch. Managers do not want you to take no for an answer regarding credit. They ask us to dis-respect the customers answer of no by continuing to try to sell them on the credit card.
