I have been working at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The work is challenging, we have a strong group of leaders who really try to do what's best for the company, though often at the expense of the underlings.

Cons

There is a severe resistance to change - everyone prefers to protect their spot or their people rather than making changes to the common good. Leadership changes their mind way too often, there are way too many instances where they'll designate a project as priority, only to change tracks the next day

Advice to Management

Need to spend less time giving lip service to engagement, and more time actually spent on improving it for all colleagues - not just a small subset

    Pros

    Pay. 401k match is great.

    Cons

The management. As a current manager Team Manager I see how someone is attacked and bullied for how they dress or their age due to being younger. This is wrong. Management is worse than the customer service reps.

    Advice to Management

Look at what your reps are saying about their manager not a disgruntled employee. GMs should be people managers first before even considered. Unfair treatment for flexing time off, working from home. Some managers are allowed others are not depending if your GM likes you.

I worked at Aon Hewitt as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Broad range of interesting clients and industries, so that makes working for Aon Hewitt Interesting. Pretty good attempt by company culture to do the right thing. There are some really good people here who maintain good working relationships under challenging situations.

    Cons

Time requirements and demands can be challenging, sometimes lack of communication can be frustrating. Lack of ability to push business solutions that benefit clients are often hindered by slow company processes.

    Advice to Management

Encourage independence and ability to fail when stretching for performance improvements. More flexibility negotiating contracts for outside vendors would be helpful.
