I worked at Aon full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good if you have a manager who is supportive of your work.

Cons

Management does not have any long term goals. They only know how to deal with the problem of the day/week. Senior management has been leaving regularly. Outsourcing will inevitably take over the work in the Glenview.

Advice to Management

Stop the outsoucing of servicing and staff it up locally.

    Pros

Sacrificing personal liberties and a small amount of your humanity in order to be successful at this organization.

    Cons

No work life balance, unless your life is about work. And poor management in general. The performance management calibration process isn't based on results, but rather popularity. The execs protect themselves to the detriment of their employees.

    Advice to Management

Grow up, and stop throwing all of your employees under the bus. You know, if you'd actually create an enjoyable place to work, you could promote from within and save on payroll since the job wouldn't be all about the money. You might actually because to balance the books by saving on turnover expenses.

I have been working at Aon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great work environment
    - Senior management has extensive knowledge of the industry and is generally willing to help you grow
    - Competitive pay and benefits
    - Flexible work hours and autonomy
    - Team based client management encourages lower level to senior level cooperation. This creates a good sense of valued input

    Cons

    - As is with all large firms (esp. in brokerage) senior level employees tend to stay beyond retirement age, hindering the ability to move up vertically within the firm
    - Disproportionate bonus pool
    - Would like more vacation/sick/personal days

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide your younger generation employees with industry knowledge and talent development. Consider providing more financial support for those looking to continue their education.
