I have been working at Apex Tool Group full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Some great individuals, global company, good manufacturing experience. Strong products but lacking the ability to get them out the door.

Cons

Horrible Leadership, useless ABS system, endless Kaizens with no real results. Terrible operations leadership leading to high inventory and loss of market share

Advice to Management

Take care of your existing talent, make real investments in people, technology and tools to drive innovation, ditch the flawed religion of ABS.

I worked at Apex Tool Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They paid all level of associates at above average wages, The company provided very good benefits that most companies do not offer.

    Cons

The facility that I was employed at made too many management changes. It made it difficult to get acclimated to one management style when there was a new one brought on board. There was also a lot of political jargon that went on that made it difficult for the manufacturing associates. They had to lead thier lives only for Apex.

    Advice to Management

They need to be more consistent in hiring managers and other top line associates. It would be good if they used a more level loaded inventory plan for all year instead of having what in their terms is the "peak" season.

The facility where I worked for thirty two years has now been closed and most of the business has been moved to China
