I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Need more time to form opinion, just converted from contractor to direct. Was able to make big impact by solving difficult field problems.

Cons

Need more time to form an opinion, just converted from contractor to direct. Need to update documentation system and quality reporting system. Many problems remain hidden due to complex nature of semiconductor tool and way to search different FRU's for common errors

Advice to Management

find way to have all groups working in same direction. individual departments optimize for their own department benefit. Different groups have internal goals that don't always align with overall corporate goals. Cost cutting in one department can negatively impact overall company quality, reliability and costs and profits.

I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall stable. Some business divisions might be chopped but most engineers can find positions in other divisions. And we are really working at the forefront of the semiconductor industry because all production started from us designing/delivering new tools.

    Cons

Have to work long hours and weir hours, like 2AM on a Saturday. And I am a process engineer, not technicians who gets overtime paid.
