Telecommuting available for some roles
Company expects mutual trust and respect

Cons

Between workload and stress, one earns every cent they are paid

Advice to Management

Workforce is very educated and knowlegable. Management doesn't always concede this with their communication.

I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Flexibility with regard to telecommuting
    Above average salary and benefits

    Cons

Company culture is you have to work real hard and put in insane hours so you have a chance of surviving the next round of layoffs. The moral of individual contributors is at rock bottom and management has no idea how worn down their employees are.

Career advancement is only for those in political favor with upper management; job performance is not a factor. If your not one of the favored you are a cog in the system.

Company locations in the US are ghost towns as a result of repeated layoffs and more work functions are moved off shore or outsourced.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be like Intel or Varian, stop communicating to your employees in management double-speak, treat your people fairly on the basis of their skills.
