I worked at Applied Materials full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Dynamic and fast-paced, compensation is excellent, good teamwork and collaboration, incredibly bright and dedicated colleagues. The company invests a great deal in developing the skills of its workforce. Communication from senior management is usually quite good.

Cons

Very cyclical business often leads to sharp cost-cutting and reductions in force. While the compensation is excellent, management sometimes tends to view that as the cure of all "ailments".

I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best job I've ever had. I only work 50 hr /wk. Way better than Google, Apple, or LAM. But not Samsung. My friend works at Samsung, and he gets bigger bonuses

    Cons

CEO Mike Splinter is a joke. Been there way too long. Salaries seem lower than other companies. If you have a bad boss, you're job will suck anywhere

I worked at Applied Materials as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The management seems to actually care about the well being of their employees. They offer many things on the job to help anyone who works there to deal with various issues within their lives, such as messages, yoga, exercise classes, team sports, a very good cafeteria, and more.

    Cons

You can count on yearly layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be thoughtful, and do more.
