I have been working at Applied Materials as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Great products, New Technology and with Tel merger will be the only real powerhouse left in play.

Cons

Run by so many people who 'Know it all' yet really don't have it down as well as they think they do. Higher ups get caught too much in their own "Hype". Pure Chaos most of the time and out of control much of the time. Some crucial processes and fundamentals are non existent leaving one to wonder how AMAT actually got to be a multi billion dollar company.

Advice to Management

Pay attention to what REALLY matters and the people making things happen. Don't believe and drink too much of the 'Koolaid" that you are making...It's no all of what you saying it really is....

I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Applied is a very big company, with global presence. So there are plenty of opportunities to change job functions and even locations. Thus one can learn in a lot of new areas.
The company tries to listen to employee feedback surveys; lots of training classes available in house for personal growth

    Cons

Too much management change. Work-life balance can be a challenge, depending on the job function.

I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good starting point for a career, not the best pay but people are nice and friendly

    Cons

Haven't been here long enough yet to know much but lame cafeteria and work environment?

    Advice to Management

If you want to be more ambitious (and why would you not be?) then you need to provide a nice work environment and hire aggressively
