Pros

If you enjoy being a nurse, the patients and families were usually wonderful.

Cons

The management has no respect for it's employees. They treat you as if your job is a dime a dozen. They are constantly under staffed and are not willing to change simple things that could ease the job of the nurse. There was ramped favoritism. Often the director would hire family and friends and they worked under different standards than other employees. Little to no communication between management and staff, and what little there was was negative.

Advice to Management

I would recommend to the owner that he make sure of which head he is thinking with. The director has kept money coming in but with changes in Medicare and Medicaid payments starting later this year, the high nurse turn over rate and lack of training to new hires will severely decrease payments. I would suggest that the director have the employees evaluate her and truly read what is being said. She should remember that even though she delegates, she is ultimately responsible for the outcome. It would pay for her to speak to and listen to those around her and lose the train of thought that only she can be right.
