I worked at Aramark full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

No weekends or holiday work. Paid every week.

Cons

The mid level manager does not always value their employees. They don't show appreciation to them and won't pay them a decent wage.

Advice to Management

Treat your staff like adults and partners. They do not work for you they work for the client and the client pays the bills.

    Pros

•Most of the people are nice
    •Responsibilities are pretty straightforward
•Options for Health Benefits are very good for 2014
•There is opportunity to change positions within the same contract location
•It's not Brain surgery so it can be fairly stress free if you keep your work time/responsibilities in check
•Has multiple shifts and skilled trades to choose from

    Cons

•Very low pay for the work being done
•Benefits don't kick in until the 1st day of the month AFTER you have worked for 30 days
•No way to use any vacation time until AFTER you have worked a year for ARAMARK
•Work can be monotonous and doesn't involve much critical thinking
•After several years of overtime being available it was cut entirely with no pay raise to compensate it
•There is not a lot of job security, lots of turnover, possibility of lay offs of corporate loses contracts or a contract doesn't make it's goal revenue
    •Few holidays off
•Management basically keeps to themselves, there is no sense of having a true voice in the company we are just cogs in a machine that are easily broken down then replaced

    Advice to Management

Create an environment of ownership at each contract site. Make every employee feel pride and responsibility for the work we do. Offer more areas of recognition and reward for hard work. Be more transparent about goals and directives. Allow all employees the same holiday time instead of giving managers more paid time off.
