I worked at Arizona State University part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Flexible, understanding towards school schedules. You are hired by the department head, and your scheduling is at their discretion. They are typically looking for a good attitude and work ethic.

Cons

You are expendable, and student worker positions can be hard to come by.

Raises occur rarely, typically after you have worked a full semester it goes up minutely.

Advice to Management

Some areas require heavier supervision and enforcement on scheduling

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Arizona State University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Wide variety of programs and many fine professors and inquiring students. Benefits good.

    Cons

Salary can be crazily low w/no COLA for years on end. Main problem is that some administrators and profs who brown-nose the top executives lord it over other self-respecting faculty and staff and get the lion's share of resources and perks. Crow and Co. play favorites and spend lavishly on a few star professors while letting salaries stagnate for the large majority who actually keep academic programs going.

    Advice to Management

Go back to Columbia, Crow, and get replaced by someone with a human touch and fewer Ivy League pretensions along the lines of Coor or Nelson

    Pros

ASU has a Great work environment
    unlimited resources
    new opportunities
    good mentoring options
administrative procedure is very fast and effective

    Cons

ASU has a lot of student population, so most of the work is done by inexperienced people. This may not be the best way.

    Advice to Management

I think the do not try to increase the student population. The school will be much better with less number of students.
