I worked at Army and Air Force Exchange full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Very family friendly and understanding. I have been able to gain employment at every military base my husband has been stationed at. I have found that if you ask your current manager to give you a good referral to your next duty station they almost always know the management at your new base.

Cons

Politics come into play quite often. Depending on where you are stationed the pay can be lower than you expect. If you are a new manager coming into the system the "old timers" can be hard to deal with as they are set in their ways and don't like to change the "this is the way I do it" attitude.

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees on the sales floor more often. They are usually the ones who know what is really going on.

I have been working at Army and Air Force Exchange part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to have a lunch break with two breaks. Also most times you can have a peaceful lunch and watch what you want on television.

    Cons

The environment is terrible. You have to stand on your feet most of the time and there is no time to think. It gets worse everyday.

    Advice to Management

Treat staff nicer and manage your employees better.

  2. "Okay pay but boring atmosphere"

I worked at Army and Air Force Exchange full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay was ok NOT great. Benefits were ok.

    Cons

Spend most of your time in meetings to schedule other meetings.

    Advice to Management

Change with the times. You still use process and mainframes from the prehistoric era.
