I have been working at Aspen Dental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They paid well enough. The 9-5 no weekends schedule was great.

    Cons

Shady business, canceling patients the day before the appointments they had waited over a month for because someone with a more profitable procedure wanted to get in . The labs are terribly ventilated and so small that everything seems twice as loud. There is no AC in the lab so it gets very hot very quickly

    Advice to Management

Treat all patients with respect. Fix the labs.

"Think twice about this before you accept the offer. I wish I would have taken stock in the reviews before I accepted."

I have been working at Aspen Dental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and that's about it.

    Cons

Non-transparent in interview process even after asking direct questions.
Training program is really to see who will work for the company without asking questions if something doesn't seem right.
No time for family, so avoid this if you have one.
They seem to be more money focused and not patient focused. Just because you say its all about getting the patients the care that they need and doing what's right for the patient, doesn't mean that's what you practice.
Working in offices where people act like they run the show just because of the title they have.
Long hours M-F (8-8 M-TH and 8-5 F) and open every Saturday (they don't tell you this when you ask what the hours are)
Patients are treated like dollars signs instead of people.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest being in contact with your offices at least weekly, especially if they have people in the office that are training for different positions.
Hire doctors that are friendly with the patients and the staff. Get feedback from others before hiring doctors that have been practicing dentistry at a previous practice. They leave for a reason and the stress of owning a practice isn't always the reason.
Have the training department actually go to offices and see what a real consult will look like. Not even patient is the same and some people don't want to chit chat.
Basing whether or not a person is suited for a position by the way the are in a classroom is a great way to let go of great employees. The classroom environment is different than the office environment.
Promote team so that everyone knows that in order to effectively do what you're suppose to do, which is getting the patients the care that they need. If you can't work together as a team, patients do notice that and they go elsewhere for care.
