I have been working at Aspen Dental full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

affordable health benefits are nice and vacation time. Bonuses are always nice if you can meet the requirements. Clean office

Cons

Managers (those directly over you and those who work out of the main office in NY) push for 30 minute adult prophy's in addition to excusing yourself to go see every new patient. Seeing every new pt (who are also non-paying patients) to do full-mouth probing and to speak to him/her about your rec treatment takes a good 8-10 minutes. Once you're finally back in your room there's really no time left to treat the paying patient properly and fairly.

Advice to Management

It seems to go unnoticed that management are not the ones with a license to practice. As a DH and a dentist we must protect our right to practice and we also must do a good job. Pushing the clinical staff who are the ones making all the money for Aspen Dental, to work in less time also means doing a worse job. It's pathetic, really and very backwards.

I have been working at Aspen Dental full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

High level of transparency. My directives were clear from top to bottom.

    Cons

Shift away from providing care and towards ripping people off to make the most money possible. Not a job for those looking to serve the community.

    Advice to Management

The sales will come through providing patients quality care and compassion, not through high interest loans and $10,000 treatment plans. There are several reasons why non-compliant patients have been non-compliant, and this is not the way to serve them.

I worked at Aspen Dental full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Can not think of any since new management and company policies have been implemented. New business model has resulted in nation wide layoffs.

    Cons

The company grew too fast and is no longer looking out for it's employees, customers or their best interests. They are too focused on opening new offices and increasing revenue and profits.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved in day to day operations of departments and offices. Stop letting your loyal, dedicated employees be treated poorly. Realize when long term employees are let go or quit all their experience and knowledge they shared with other employees does also.
