Pros

The residents are sweet and very appreciative of everything done for them.

Cons

The employees work in fear of losing their jobs. Micro-management, as stated by others, is a good description. Not uncommon to hear false statements to potential residents and employees.

Advice to Management

Look more closely at what REALLY is being done for (and said to) your residents. What's on paper is not always the truth. Nepotism exists. Possibly be more realistic with the time studies - taking care of non-ambulatory, incontinent overweight residents NEEDS more than one employee on duty to safely complete the care needed. The Hoyer lift doesn't even work. Most employees dont know what it is, let alone how to use it. I would not have even looked at this site if I had been treated with the same respect and integrity I had shown to the management as I transitioned out. That was NOT the case!

    Pros

The people that worked there and the residents were the best. You develop your own community within those walls and want the best for them. They make the workplace a home.

    Cons

The downsides? It's so frustrating trying to do the right thing and constantly being managed by a number of "chiefs". Trying to purchase something outside the DSSI program would typically go through at least two managers of some sort and then approvals if you are lucky, then a week or two to get the order through. Not to mention an essay describing why you need that particular disinfectant or type of paper. When occupancy goes down, spending goes down also. THis includes cutting life enrichment, which affects the folks already living there. I could understand cutting the very people who pay mine and their salaries in Menomonee Falls.

    Advice to Management

Please make some attempt to understand the people that you claim to be so compassionate about. A successful company understands it's market and treats their employees with respect and understands that the building wouldn't operate effectively without them. You lose on both sides. The DVP will "visit" and not once make an attempt to talk with any of the residents to see how they are doing. They are afraid of what they will hear so they avoid it altogether. Clean house ALC and start with "el presidente" before they run all of your buildings to the ground.
