I have been working at Assisted Living Concepts full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great people working very hard to deliver great care.

Cons

Micromanagement, lack of trust, no appreciation for what the employees do, don't provide proper training or the tools to do their jobs properly.

Advice to Management

Eliminate a bunch of middle/upper management positions, their not needed because they aren't doing anything. Visit the houses and talk to the employees about what they need. Put systems and processes in place that eliminate the idiotic micromanagement which wastes time and money at every level.

I have been working at Assisted Living Concepts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are many hard working people who provides great direct care services for the residents they love and care for.

    Cons

The workers are constantly under suspicion by regional managers who doesn't seem to care about anything or anybody accept getting move-ins to make them look good. Workers are under extreme pressure to perform and are always threaten job loss if they don't meet the managers move-in goals monthly. The alotted time to do documentation is unrealistic. The conference calls are always used to promote scare tactics and pressure from managers, so workers live in constant fear of losing their jobs. There is no real training going on during the calls; they are just used to see if you have projections and the number of move-ins for the week. It's crazy that you always have to be back in the house to get on conference calls in the middle of trying to market. There are too many calls, Monday, Tuesday, Fridays twice. The Fridays' calls takes away lunch and the 4:00 p.m. time for inputting information in that outdated Star system. Why is the company so cheap; they refuse to update the computer and phone systems, marketing tools for sales calls and home visits or spend more than $300 per month for expenses. That little $300 is suppose to pay everything for the house and marketing; it's crazy.

Christmas appreciation really showed just how much you appreciate your employees--$5 for every employee in the house with all of the stipulations on how it was to be spent was truly a slap in the face. The company could have kept that little money. Employees work hard all year and this is the best you could do for them; and they are suppose to be so happy and thankful because you really appreciate their hard work; this is a joke and a disgrace to the people who bust their butts for the upper management to get fat pockets. Greed will eventually destroy those who chase after the money and not the people we serve.

Mr. Chip Roadman say wants to see change and is working to make this happen. Well, I would suggest that he clean house with the untrained regional managers and hire managers with the vision that he has for this company and who have quality management skills. Right now, it's like fire and water; they are fighting against positive change for the people. People are constantly quitting or being fired because of poor management. Really, it doesn't do any good to write these reviews because Corporate Management doesn't read these, nor do they care enough to prove to the people that they care about the workers and residents. It's all about the almighty dollars; God sees the oppression of his people and he will take actions if things doesn't change for the better. Fix it where you will someday have people who can retire from your company instead of dropping out or being kicked out before they are able to walk through the doors.

    Advice to Management

Please do something; at least communicate you the lower positioned workers so you will know the truth, not allow the numbers to be your truth. Show the people you care by giving raises and bonuses like you promised.
