I have been working at Associated Press full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has a very reputable name.. Get another job when possible.

    Cons

Going further downhill especially with the new CEO. Downsizing, cost-ineffective solutions and management.

Not willing to think outside the box or do enough research before making decisions. Upper management makes all the calls. HR is ineffective and money isn't great.

    Advice to Management

Please stop stifling innovation, being rigid, old. Stop the fake brown nosing.

  2. "The AP is one of the media companies that will definitely make it through the current crisis successfully."

    Pros

It is a mission driven organization, and hte mission is shared by the seniormost executives. This is critical to the effectiveness of the organization. In addition, the AP has an economic driver for objectivity. As a b-to-b provider of content, objectivity allows the AP to see the same breaking news to the New York Times as it does the the New York Post. Similarly, it benefits from selling to both the Washington Times and the Washington Post. Huffington.come and the DailyStandard.com. I haven't yet found another ocmpany with this kind of driver.

    Cons

It is not a publically held company, so there is no company stock. These days, that may be a plus, now that I think of it.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.
