I have been working at Assurant full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

- Benefits (Medical, 401k Match, Pension, ESPP, etc)
- Experience working with many different departments
- Employees
- Salary is fair

Cons

- Industry (Extended Warranties/Insurance)
- Lack of appreciation/recognition for hard work
- Priorities not clear/Direction not in line with priorities
- Top employees spread too thin
- No clear track/direction for moving up or improving performance
- So concerned about perception/politics, it interferes with ability to do work
- It's impossible to get anything done when it involves technology

Advice to Management

Instead of depending so much on certain key employees, train and hold other employees responsible to balance the workload and improve efficiency. Practice what you preach. Be consistent. .

    Assurant is a great company in terms of competitive salaries, bonus plans and benefits. The entrepreneurial approach to the business allows people to innovate and drive new products, services, processes, etc. Leadership is engaged and accessible and the opportunity to move throughout the company and be recognized for outstanding work is prevalent.

    Cons

    Product segments are not well respected by consumer advocates but widely held by consumers.

    If you work hard and don't mind playing office politics you can advance, I know many people who started on the call center floor that are now middle management. Flexible hours,decent pay

    office politics, if you get on someones bad side look out!
