No opinion of CEO

Pros

There are some great people to work with and opportunities to learn about the industry. The nature of the work makes it so that not every day is the same thing over and over.

Cons

There was a very high turnover. People in the office who had been there a while were defensive of their work. There was little loyalty to employees by management.

Advice to Management

Realize that employees are the key to a good business. People need to be treated as an asset and not a liability

I worked at Atlas Van Lines full-time

    Pros

If you are lazy, off center and as smart as a fifth grader you will fit right in here. They really like yes men who think their mainframe system is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

    Cons

They promote the wrong people and lay off the brightest people. No sign of any career development. If you are a very bright normal family man, you will be ostracized and constructively dismissed. They like uneducated loons here.

    Advice to Management

Force the most hated person in the building into retirement. The positive change will be immediate. Get rid of the dead wood. Have all management take management courses and IQ/intelligence tests. When you promote minimum wage clerks into management without any management experience or education, things tend to fall off the rails.

I have been working at Atlas Van Lines full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Some very amenable colleagues, easy to access (commute), company in somewhat positive transition, pension plan, free coffee, very decent benefits

    Cons

Some departments are very toxic- where to start? Some toxic individuals rule, antagonize entire depts and are allowed to do so even though have been reported to HR several times. Particular individuals permitted to passive-aggressively bully entire depts as they're adept, calculating, and emotionally manipulative. Hey Atlas- did you know you can be sued for complicit bullying, harassment in the workplace!?! Most directors here have little business training, don't provide actual direction (begrudge having meetings even), and enjoy ridiculous salaries while "underlings" receive pitiful pay and are debased with vile abuse. You'll have to put in copious amounts of overtime, but don't dare ask for OT compensation. How about actually monitoring individual performance and give merit raises? Nepotism runs high here to the detriment of dept budgets, financial goals - but hey, "we're a family". Most upper management has caustic attitude toward, no openness to listening to younger (educated) employees (outright rarely letting you finish a sentence), and are just bitterly coasting to retirement. There is a just such a blatant disregard for professionalism (sexual harassment, verbal abuse) in this office- you wonder if you're in a nightmare/alternate dimension. Furthermore, the ongoing and complicit acceptance of abuse from upper management is appalling. You can't trust your managers, HR or senior management. Amazingly useless review system with unattainable scores, even if you're model employee- great way to fester the already rampant culture of mediocrity. Another way upper management can be spared of reallocating their six-figure salaries. You're also given 10 sick days/yr but scolded for taking them. Want to save the company money? Move majority of workers to virtual office and downsize building....Save yourself grey hairs and stress- don't consider working here.

    Advice to Management

Please , upper management, step out of your cushy, quiet offices and see the actual hard work your employees do, witness the toxic, calculated abuse from managers, and by all means try to clear our workload in a day- you'd fail.
