Pros

1. Less stressful. Does not feel like a rat race.
2. Nice people, engineers.
3. Great location for commuters etc.
4. Lots of old timers
5. Less politics than other companies.

Cons

0. No clear career path or performance plan for employees
1. Poor pay, unless you are a new executive
2. Until recently, there was very poor vision & visibility for engineers regarding technology
3. Lots of old timers means things don't progress as quickly. Organizational inertia.
4. Poor communication between groups

Advice to Management

1. Show a clear vision to your troops.
2. Pay and treat your engineers well. Your engineers will ensure your success, not your executive staff.
3. Start a mentoring program, a career leadership program...something to boost your employee morale and show them a career path at Atmel

    Pros

    - opportunity to experience development activities
    - travel opportunities to other company sites
    - relaxed environment, depending on counterparts and operations being supported

    Cons

    - very basic benefits (health/HMO, meal subsidy)
    - cafeteria service is awful
    - less organized project management
    - cost-cutting policies are insulting
    - most employees come from mid-to-low ranking schools
    - less competitive colleagues, not challenged to excel

    Advice to Management

    - provide better project and people management
    - revamp employee benefits
    - improve on food and cafeteria service
    - hire decent people with pleasing personalities

    Pros

    Work environment is little bit relax compared to other companies. Compensaton is OK compared to other companies. Overall not a bad company work.

    Cons

    May not be good company if you are interested to work in a company with advanced technolgy. Usually this a not a leading company in technology field.

    Advice to Management

    Should pay more attention to employee's need. Also they should spend more time and money to let employee to become more efficient and experienced.
