Pros

Work life balance and employee security are top notch. Excellent benefits. No need to look for another place to work.

Cons

Legacy based culture, nepotism culture, "promotion from within" attitude, slow career growth path.

Advice to Management

Provide on-going career training for senior management, not just cadets. Generally engineers need skills to become great managers.

    Pros

An electricity network distribution business with a significant capital investment program to upgrade infrastructure. Well managed. Good focus on corporate citizenship and sustainability. Great opportunities especially for engineers. Part of Smart Grid programme. Excellent mentoring program.

    Cons

Can be risk averse given state owned nature.

    Advice to Management

Provide more support to the mentoring program from top down - great way to increase employee engagement.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Great hands-on experience, rewards and recognition, co-worker support.

    Cons

Uncertainty with job security, top management retrench middle-managers on the basis of staff's Pulse surveys.

    Advice to Management

Streamline processes, and offer more permanent full-time roles. Senior management must not rid of middle-managers every four or five years.
