I have been working at AutoZone full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Working with different types of personalities on a daily basis, decent compensation as a store manager, good health benefits for full time employees, great customers(most of the time) and ability to move up further make AutoZone a good place to work.

Cons

50+ hours per week makes this a difficult place to work when you have a family, no benefits for part time employees, annual pay increase is mostly a joke(+/- .15 cents), constant up-selling is required, not a lot of training offered before actually working, no bonus for anyone below store manager and not a lot of recognition or communication from DM or above.

Advice to Management

Remember who is selling your products and increasing your bottom line profits. Offer part time employees vacation/benefits and higher wages to reduce turnover. Less micro-management from DM and above, let me run my store like you hired me to do. Stop making such a big deal about up-selling so much, the customers and employees will thank you for it.

    Pros

You work and get a pay check.

    Cons

Management is the worst coming from district manager and above. In the store its the same story you get any where else. It all depends on the manager, district manager and so on. In this case district manager promises but never comes through and when he does it not compensating, forcing relocation and so on. Poor pay compared to others.

    Advice to Management

Stick to your promises, maybe if you compensate your employees you'll get the right performance. Stop trying to reduce hours, (labor), lower pay and re-focus on customer service what AUTOZONE is known for! If the store gets busier allow more employees to give the right customer service.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Checks don't bounce, 20% discount, working with good people at the store level.

    Cons

Cut already tight payroll on a whim, way too many KPI's (even have a report about reports) expect employees to install batteries, lights and many other things with no training or payroll to do so, upper managers (district, region ect..) are completely clueless and inept.. benefit costs are absorbent (about $650 mo for a family) having to do the same planograms over and over.. use of threats and intimidation and bullying to motivate employees,

    Advice to Management

PLEASE pull your heads out and listen to your store personnel you know the ones that actually are bringing in the money!
