Pros

What you work on directly impacts millions of customers. Software created at Autodesk is used by Engineers, Architects, Construction etc. Almost every you buy might have been designed or created using one of the Autodesk softwares. Great job satisfaction

Cons

Pay is not competitive with respect to the industry, though the benefits are great.

Advice to Management

Great company! To retain good people, pay them well.

    I have been working at Autodesk full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great people, love the benefits (including a 6 week sabbatical after 4 years), diverse solution portfolio which allows for many options to move within the company. Excellent technology, often best of breed in the industry.

    Cons

    Very political in nature, seemingly endless reorgs, and sometimes product development seems to take much longer than usual. Very siloed as a company which can be a challenge to get things done. Names change so much, with acronyms, there is an "Autodesk dictionary" to keep track.

    Advice to Management

    Would like to see a much clearer employee development program, as well as a more fanatical approach to customer satisfaction.

    Pros

    lots of people who are really talented and hard working

    Cons

    Management has constantly re-organized the company every year for the last 5 years. Result is chaos. No body knows what they're doing. Everytime people start working productively again, they pull the rug out again and everyone starts all over. It's amazing they haven't killed our business yet. Too much investment in future, unproven technology and business models while core businesses go begging for basic investment. This leaves major issues with customer satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

    Pull your head out of the cloud for a few minutes every week and go talk to customers. Not the specially chosen customers, get a broader view. You are running away from a great business to be California cool, but go see the rest of the world where most of the design and engineering take place.
