I worked at Avanade full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Avanade has a Good working environment, great colleagues, fair benefits and is owned by Accenture, so moving around is easy. I found the work environment was relaxed, focusing on getting your work done, from wherever and whenever possible. Office hours were mandatory only by the fact it was the most efficient way to work and face time is important. Working from home though was no big deal.

Cons

Long hours, pay is a little below that of another firm such as Accenture. Sometimes the tasks can get a little too specialized. it's also a consulting firm, so expect to be exempt from a lot of overtime pay, but be "on-call" quite a bit. Sunday afternoon calls with Asia (their morning) were very routine for me.

Advice to Management

Focus on pay equality and branching out in solution management.

I have been working at Avanade full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of great people, really not much of a hierarchy to speak of. Vice presidents are generally down to earth, willing to work with you.

    Cons

The compensation isn't very good, yearly raises need improvement. Training for non-technical employees is a joke.

I have been working at Avanade full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great, smart people who are passionate. Cool things to work on. Feels like the company has a strategy and momentum

    Cons

The company is somewhat conflicted between strategic goals and what needs to happen in short term to close business. This conflict creates a lot of tension. Also, they say they want to be independent of Accenture (one of two parents, the other is Microsoft) but most efforts tend to favor projects coming from Accenture and there is little willingness to invest in new client development.

    Advice to Management

Realize that a new client is seldom going to be a $3M+ deal out of the gate and invest in smaller deals to win new clients. Also, need to allow new sellers the time to develop clients. When asking a new hire to develop business the sales cycle is long (6-9 months) unless you are simply poaching talent with a rolodex.
