I have been working at Avis Budget Group full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

ABG will invest in you to advance but you need to be young and full of energy to suceed. Great place for a recent grad to start rising to the top.

Cons

If you are older you may not want to work your way up. You must be able to do all types of physical labor. From cleaning cars to working outside in extreme weather.

Advice to Management

    Pros

Sorry, I don't have any pros for this job!

    Cons

Where do I begin...bad management, everyone for themselves, and bad work hour. Management will try to sell you a dream when you start. They will state that you will make 3,000 and more on commission. Honestly and hardworking does not apply to this job. The only way you'll get ahead if you lie and cheat.

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time

    Pros

For the ethical employees: Weekly paycheck, full-time hours, some great co-workers (mostly the old time veterans), dental benefits. That's about it.
For the unethical employees: if you are an arrogant unethical blowhard that has been fired from previous jobs and loves to lie to customers for a quick buck, you will probably get hired and loved by the general manager. You can even make decent money as a result of your lying and cheating.

    Cons

Since this is a franchise location employees don't get the same benefits as those that belong to a corporate location ran by AvisBudget. There are no medical benefits here for full-time workers or even managers, 2 less personal days compared to corporate ran Budget, slightly lower starting wages compared to Avis, and no contributions from the company if you chose to enroll in the 401k plan. In an effort to attract people to work for this franchise, the money hungry general manager will grossly overstate how much one can make in commissions a month.

As a result of the low compensation, this place tends to attract uneducated, bottom of the barrel employees fired from previous places of employment that will do ANYTHING to make a quick buck to pad their monthly commissions. If you are working in the "fastbreak" area, expect to receive numerous complaints about expensive mysterious coverages and upsells (usually from rental contracts started by the same 2 or 3 sales agents) added to customers contracts without the customer knowing until it's too late. These 2 or 3 thieves are loved by the general manager and company though because they are bringing in the money for them.

If you are what's deemed a "low performer," however, don't expect ANY love even if you receive positive customer service feedback from customer surveys. What you can expect instead is threatening emails (with horrible grammar) and/or phone calls from the general manager telling you to get your numbers up or else. You might even get called into the office by the general manager and the CEO to "discuss" your low performance. This place obviously tries to "motivate" and control it's employees by fear and intimidation which isn't surprising since this seems to be the norm in the rental car industry.

On top of all the lying and cheating going on by the "top performers" you get to deal with an antiquated computer system called "wizzard" which makes processing rentals way more difficult than it should be.

Only work here if you are absolutely desperate for a job to pay the bills. Even then, continue to look for other employment so you aren't stuck at this toxic environment for too long. This place is really only good for those that are dishonest and don't mind putting on extra things to people's contracts in order to get a big commission check. I am glad I am no longer part of this shady company.

    Advice to Management

Nothing since the general manager and CEO have such big egos that they think they can get away with doing anything they want in order to make a fat profit. These two might as well be Machiavelli and Hitler.
