I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

1. Wide parking spaces. 2. If you want to work for a company that gets nowhere and accomplishes nothing than this is it.
After working there for several years I was laid off just over 2 years ago. Since then the company has focused on buying out other entities to create the illusion for stock holders that they are successful. There has been tremendous turnover because the new leadership wants to bring in their own people and the people that have been loyal for decades are getting the shaft and treated like dirt.

Cons

Having a career is limited due to lack of solid leadership. Working there has become a revolving door here employees are constantly looking over their shoulders. Senior leadership cannot be trusted. Those that do move up have little if any skills but instead look and play the part

Advice to Management

Board members should seriously consider replacing the two-faced fake leadership. If not for the illusion of a strong bottom line and of course Quantitative Easing, the stock price would be in the single digits

Standardize preferred renting process at all locations, or better communicate the policies of each location.

I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best part of this sales job was being able to drive their new cars

    Cons

Poor pay...long hours...dealing with rude and angry customers every 5 mins...As an RSA, your primary job is to provide customers with rental cars. Since this company feels the need to offer cars for as low as $15/day via PriceLine...the cars were never available since everyone capitalized on this deal. That meant daily long lines while other rental companies stayed empty. Customers would argue with the RSAs daily because they had to wait 30mins or more in line to get a $15/day car. In order to make money, you had to up-sell their car class or sell them insurance( Which EveryOne Who Rents Cars, Know They Dont Need It ). Since Avis Budget has limited cars, you had to give your customers free up-grades anyway. Its pretty difficult to sell someone something once they have waited so long in line after having a long flight or maybe lay overs. Finally, If you are able to make any commission, 40% of that is taken out for tax purposes. The RSAs make about $9 hr which is Sub-Standard considering they are the front line of the company. With the money you make as a RSA, yo may be able to pay your cable, cell phone bill, and buy some groceries...Thats It.

    Advice to Management

Hire all new sales agents currently living at home with their parents
