I worked at Avnet as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

I was able to learn many essential skills with software tools I will use throughout my career. The people were the best part of this company with many of the always happy and encouraging. The culture at the corporate office is amazing, everyone cares about you and what is going on in your life.

Cons

Boring work, cubicle atmosphere, and sometimes hard to make it through the day. Some of the systems that are still in use (Genesis) are very archaic and hard for new generations to adapt to. Many of the functions within a department are not integrated accurately causing unneeded extra work.

Advice to Management

Keep pushing the culture and improving it. It was one of the only things that kept me happy going to work all summer.

I have been working at Avnet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pension vested after 3 years. Work hard, don't make waves and you have a decent job without tons of pressure.

    Cons

Substandard pay and benefits, no 401K, no Stock grants or ESPP insurance is OK but could change. Continual reorganizations and riffs

    Advice to Management

If you truly want to change the company and move into new areas of growth, you will need to hire and retain the best and brightest. You can do this by improving your pay structure and overall benefits package and promoting people with clear leadership abilities.
