I worked at Avon Products full-time

Pros

company store, free giveaways, strong name associated in helping women

Cons

Almost everything! Seriously, run don't walk away from this place. Weak sr leadership, inability to make a decision and stick with it, poor communication at all levels. Unclear direction of category role which seems to change by the minute. A lot of Avon lifers, people who have been there far too long with automated response of we can't or no or that's the Avon way. A TON of churn causing work to be undone, redone, etc. due to lack of said inability to stick with decision. Witnessed personal pov chosen over sound business decision on numerous occasions. If you want to be in the real world avoid this place at all costs.

Advice to Management

Make a decision and stick with it.

I worked at Avon Products as a contractor

    Pros

Great talent at individual worker level, especially among those who are newly in-country
Terrific international employees with wonderful work ethic and impressive technical skills
Quality of full-time employees (who were former consultants) and talented consultants

    Cons

Senior management in charge of technology transformation are utterly ignorant of the technologies they are responsible for implementing
All executive level reporting is done in PowerPoint with dumbed down bullet points and few words in big fonts, stripped of any meaningful details
Program management does not know how to use MS Project, they say it is "too hard to understand" so no project plans are created or tracked
Executives don't know how to use MS Visio, either, so mapping Business Processes is an alien experience and creates hostile confusion
I found the women in charge to act in a "mean girls" high school kind of way: forming cliques, heckling you within earshot, then turning on each other
Certain executives with the least technical knowledge would reject the very good advice of senior, experienced consultants, then terminate them without notice
Entire solutions that required skills with certain in-demand software were rejected outright due solely to management's ignorance of industry best practices
Any effort to educate senior management about how to employ necessary software solutions were met with accusations that you were "just trying to sell them something"

    Advice to Management

Don't put incompetent people in executive positions responsible for global technology transformations. Any senior leadership spot should be merit based, otherwise you'll continue bungling your international tech solutions and make headline news for spectacular stupidity. There are too many women relying on their income from Avon to support their families and even to climb out of poverty for this company to gender norm executive appointments.

I worked at Avon Products full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some best reasons to work at Avon are that the co-workers are nice, but stay away from MGMT - oh nevermind they would never associate themselves with their workers.

    Cons

The pay is not where it should be if you are a long time employee, they treat you horrible.

    Advice to Management

Get with the game and treat everyone the same!
