Pros

$15/hr, you can work when you want. It is also an easy job because you just have to drive around and you get to see the state.

Cons

The directions are not always very good and you can drive around for a while looking for the right place.

Advice to Management

It would be nice if the directions to the bars, restaurants or gas stations were a bit better. Maybe renting GPS systems to drivers, or lending them out to drivers and having them put down a returnable deposit, would reduce the time on the job, saving money in the end.

I have been working at BARS program part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is $15/hour. You must be 21-25 years old to work as a checker. You drive around to various restaurants, gas stations, grocery and convenience stores to perform compliance checks. Specific and easy to follow instructions and procedures are given for each location you go to. You can set your own schedule. Great way to earn extra cash or supplement your income.

    Cons

Checkers can only work a location for 1-2 months with 1-2 month breaks in between. Number of rounds a month vary. Gas used during your rounds are not rembursed making the use of a fuel efficient vehicle a must. Rounds( list of locations) must be completed in order, after 12:00PM the same day in order to account for the hours worked. Written directions are given, although the use of a GPS will help during your travels. Distance of rounds can exceed 100 miles, so cost of gas, your vehicles MPG & hours worked must be considered before deciding if it's worth it for you. Example: I worked 4.5 hours, made $67.50, traveled 100 miles with a 24MPG vehicle, used 4.16 gallons at $2.99/gal. Leaving me at about $55. That's $12.22 an hour!... before taxes. =D

    Advice to Management

No advice needed. This job is very straight forward and management seems to have thoroughly planned this job out with their checker personnel in mind. They are paying us more than minimum wage for a simple, quick, and easy job, although this maybe to compensate for the gas used. However, the cost of gas shouldn't be an issue here because even with a low MPG vehicle(say 15 MPG), you are more than likely going to take home more or the equivalent of the minimum wage.
