I worked at BHP Billiton full-time

Pros

Good salary and highest bonus % you will find in O&G. $2 lunch is awesome. Growing company with deep pockets to continue acquiring other companies.

Cons

Unsubstantiated rumor mill that management listens to and usually buys into and has ended up burning many people. Management does not stick up for their employees if it involves putting their neck out in any way. Very Big Brother-ish...monitor your comings and goings and computer usage even just moving files around. Many people have their work computer AND a personal laptop or Ipad to skirt being monitored. Very tight when it comes to expenses, unless you are in engineering.
Company does a terrible job of growing organically due to what I perceived as underperformance in the exploration group, so luckily they have enough money coming in to grow through acquisition.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Great environment, small company feel although it's operations are world wide, great compensation and benefits, work life balance, and development.

    Cons

Lacks structure in new hire process which is logical considering they are establishing/pioneering new production units.

    Advice to Management

Create a more structured development process. New hire process is a bit chaotic and disorganized.
