I have been working at BMO Harris Bank full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good incentive program. Good vacation time. Nice facilities. Above average managment. I have worked for three banks over 8 years (always left because I was moving) and this bank was by far the best. I know others who have worked for Chase, PNC, 5/3, and Regions and all say the culture is better at BMO Harris.

Cons

Obviously it's really a sales position, so the bottom line is always your sales production. Training is minimal. Canadian based institution. They also protray a contradictory position on customer relationship vs. company policy. They say don't lost the customer accounts, but often times when an account is in jeopardy it's because they are threatening to leave because they can't get an exception they want that would violate policy. If you lose the account, they say you should have made an exception, but if you make an exception that exposes the bank to risk (which all exception do) they say why didn't you follow policy.

Advice to Management

Managment was surprisingly good.

    Pros

Prescription Drug card & medical benefits, paid holidays

    Cons

Branch Managers have no accountability for the sales production of the bottom line of their branch the responsibility is all on the PB's.Reducing the teller staff to Parttime status, 20 hrs a week with benefits was a bad move on the company's part. It will not work in Phoenix,AZ. You are going to see a lot of teller's taking the package offered to them. PB's are expected to make 200 voice to voice contacts, conversations in a month with new and existing customers to offer products & services.

    Advice to Management

The reduction of hours for tellers in Phoenix is a bad decision. You are going to see a large reduction in staff which will hurt our customers.
