I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Very easy work. If you graduated from a decent college, you are already smarter than most people there.

Cons

Monotonous work, day to day grind. No career planning or mentoring. Very low pay, and moving up is based almost purely on seniority versus ability and work ethic.

Advice to Management

Paying the bare minimum seems smart, but employee turnover, lack of ingenuity, and creative thinking hurts more in the end.

I worked at BNY Mellon full-time

    Pros

Great people to work with. Flexible work / home balance with ops to work from home. Nice benefits. There are some people who care but they are hard to find.

    Cons

Management is full of people who are more concerned with protecting their own silo than doing anything innovative. They are so risk averse that development drags to a standstill. There are no career opportunities, none. Any training is done merely to say that there was some training. Bonuses are not distributed to those who deserve them but to managements favorites.

    Advice to Management

Replace the middle managers with people who can drive with passion and innovation and are willing to go out on a limb to back their convictions.
