I worked at BNY Mellon as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

9-5 hours, convenient location, friendly people. Other employees on the whole were not idiots, but not Ivy League either. General morale especially regarding compensation was very low.

Cons

Compensation, general attitude. Same boring bank operations work as everywhere else, but 2/3 the comp, getting things done is constantly an uphill battle, took my Managing Director level supervisor over a year and a half to even begin to convert me from an intern to a full time employee.

Advice to Management

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to start, good vacation and benefits, can buy time off, a lot of opportunity

    Cons

low starting salaries, but they're the only game in town for most fields, favoritism is clearly evident in hiring practices and promotions. VERY slow and unresponsive HR machine. No bonuses for the work horses. Poor performance not handled. Asinine management structure.

    Advice to Management

WHY can't you make it make sense? Anything that makes logical sense seems to be ignored.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Until recent years BNY Mellon was a stable employer. While other companies were going through massive downsizing or their annual cleaning house BNY Mellon did not .

    Cons

Salaries are not competitive, raises in the 0-2% range for both low and high performing employees , low morale, favoritism.

    Advice to Management

    Salaries need to be competitive.
