I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Flexible work environment. More or less a stable company. Good benefits.

Cons

Too many managers. Almost no room for advancement. Low pay.

Advice to Management

Too many chiefs. At least keep the employees happy by giving better raises and bonuses.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Benefit packages, company match to 401k, other investment options
    - Good quality people to work with - relationship and network building
    - Employee autonomy
    - Lower level Managers are generally supportive of analyst/associates quality of work life.

    Cons

    - Disconnect from corporate
    - Lack of career opportunities and/or reward for educational achievements
    - In house employee career opportunities are vague and difficult to navigate (HR is distant and not very helpful)
    - Pay is mediocre and merit increases do not reflect employee hard work
    - CEO Gerald Hassel emails company memos relishing the company achievements and praises employees...but who would ever know it from the merit increases that average 1-2%. Gee thanks a lot Gerald.

    Advice to Management

Fire Executive Management and wake the hell up. Employee expectations will always fall short when you fail to recognize and reward hard work.

I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work and life balance. It is more up to you whether you want to work hard or not, but don't expect the additional bonus at the end.

    Cons

Old technologies, big company with lot of bureaucracy, no effective processes. Company is in the cost cutting mode, would more likely lay off employees and bring in out source team or contractors to fill in temporarily than reward bonus for hard working employees.
