I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Good benefits, very flexible with telecommuting, no micro-managing. Didn't know BNY Mellon per se very well, as I worked for several different companies nearly 20 years before the aquisition.

Cons

Didn't know BNY Mellon per se very well, as I worked for several different companies nearly 20 years before the aquisition.

I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They have great benefits. It looks good on any resume that you worked at such a large global company. A good opportunity to gain experience.

    Cons

The corporate culture has changed from striving to be "The Employer of Choice" to just a place to work. They don't care about you as an individual. You are truly just a cog in the wheel. They feel they can replace you "with anyone off the street". No one is indispensable but they have taken it to the extreme.

    Advice to Management

Your personnel ARE your most important asset. They cannot be replaced with anyone off the street without missing a beat. Off shoring functions/jobs to cut costs makes it harder to do the job right the first time! You need to recognize there is a language barrier!! And that barrier will cause work to take longer OR need to be redone.

I worked at BNY Mellon as a contractor

    Pros

Large company with lots of resources, not very demanding in terms of hours and commitment (everyone leaves ON time), growth opportunities available

    Cons

Not very exciting. Growth really depends on your manager, if they share knowledge then you can make a good career here (without feeling you have to work 70 hrs/week). Unfortunately it's easy to just do enough to get by and you run into people who are just coasting.

    Advice to Management

It's never good management practice to assume your employees are inferior to you.
