I have been working at BP full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Since you are overloaded, you learn a lot in a few time period.

Cons

Workload and no recognition for what you achieve. There is no equal opportunity. Everyone is overloaded and salary compared to you workload is minimum.

Advice to Management

Fair approach to everyone. Fair return on you performance and recognition of your achievements.

I worked at BP full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation not bad! Other than that, there wasn't much good to say about this horrible company.

    Cons

Unethical, unreliable, untruthful. They say the right words, but there is no substance behind them or there is blatant dishonesty and they single out contractors as scapegoats.

    Advice to Management

Quit. Let honest, truthful people run the company.

    Positive Outlook
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

-Tons of work opportunities, especially early in your career. Can take some time as a young engineer to find where you fit best and land there.
-Culture is great, and the people are as well.
-9/80 schedule is great (every other Friday off, working 9 hours per day every other day). Essentially its ~20 days of vacation each year in addition to the vacation package you already have.

    Cons

-Typical big company cons: slow turnaround for decisions, bureaucracy, etc.
-Sometimes the company tends to ride the oil industry roller-coaster more than most. When things are good, they're great, but when something happens (ex. Gulf Spill), things may get prohibitively expensive, hard to do, etc.

    Advice to Management

Dudley and Co do a good job. Stick with the vision for the company, and continue to value people.
